Donat has been working professionally as a counsellor/psychotherapist since 2010. He commenced his work in the latter part of the 00’s in a number of medical General Practices in the North West of Ireland. He gained extensive experience working with clients and conditions ranging from  anxiety, depression, addiction to obsessionally, compulsivity, grief, to clients dealing with highly challenging and complex conditions including self-harm, post-traumatic stress disorder, dual diagnosis, and eating disorders.  These clients shared the characteristic that their ailments impacted their lives in a highly debilitating way. In many situations client’s encountered symptoms and situations that became increasingly unbearable. At such times of breakdown there exists the possibility with courage and support to breakthrough, into a new way of living.

Donat engages and works with clients to establish goals for their therapeutic journey. An initial free consultation involves an assessment of matters of concern and establishes realistic expectations and boundaries for the work ahead. At this point the prospective client gauges whether they feel comfortable to work with Donat. The consideration and setting of realistic goals with inbuilt review points may be discussed before embarking on therapy.
